Media Markt in Germany launches Customer Club

On the 18th February, Media Markt launched their new, free customer club in attempt to boost customer retention by offering numerous immediate benefits such as competitions, delivery offers and local events. The vision of the program of Europe´s largest electrical retailer is to become “the largest customer loyalty program in the retail sector”.

To become a member, customers must register in store, online or via a smartphone andthen they will receive their personal club card.

The customer club also offers customers an extended product exchange period from 14 to 28 days; free standard delivery with major appliance purchases; vouchers and an associated app which will digitally manage all customer purchases as a substitute for referring to receipts when necessary.Each club customer is automatically entered to the monthly prize draw and will have the chance to win prizes randomly when paying at the checkout in store or online. Prizes include a home theatre system and trips abroad. Club members will receive frequent updates on the latest offers and events and an exclusive hotline is available for any queries.

After a successful implementation in Germany, Media Markt plans to do a further rollout in other European coutries.
